Lt. Henry Hernandez joined the Sheriff’s Office as a Detention Officer on August 6, 1990. During his first four years at the Detention Center, Lt. Hernandez worked the high-risk prisoner housing units, the Admitting Section where all prisoner bookings and releases are conducted, the Sentenced Prisoner Complex and the Outer Transport Unit.
In August 1994, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned to the Custody Section. In December of 1995, he promoted to the rank of Sergeant where his duties included supervising various shifts in the Custody Section and the Sentenced Prisoner Complex. He retained those supervisory duties in the Custody Section after his promotion to Watch Commander in August of 1998. In September of 2006, Watch Commander Hernandez promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and is currently the Graveyard Shift Lieutenant.
Lt. Hernandez is married, has two sons and two grandsons. When not spending time with his family, his favorite pastime is off-road racing.
