Attempted Homicide

Location of Incident: 800 block of Eleanor Avenue – Yuma, AZ


UPDATE:
On November 8, 2013 at approximately 5:50 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office was advised that the victim, Jose Orejel, had succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, Robert Moore, has been charged with 1st Degree Homicide. Next of kin notifications have been made.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:
On November 6, 2013, at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 800 block of Eleanor Avenue in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, deputies located a 32-year old Hispanic male victim that had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center by Rural Metro ambulance with life threatening injuries and later flown to St. Joseph Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to the scene, conducted numerous interviews and were able to identify a suspect in the shooting.

On November 7, 2013, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) served a high-risk search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Date Avenue. Upon arrival, SRT members surrounded the residence and called the suspect out. The suspect came out of the residence at was taken into custody. During the search of the residence numerous weapons were recovered and taken as evidence.

Residents were evacuated from the surrounding homes in the area prior to the execution of the search warrant.

Suspect: Robert Moore, 47 year old, white male
The suspect has been arrested and booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault Serious Injuries.
