For 27 years, the Klein family has set up an elaborate Christmas display at their residence located at 2101 W. 25th Street in Yuma. This display has been enjoyed by countless Yuma residents and Winter Visitors over the 27 year history and a trip to enjoy the ever expanding display of lights and characters has been a holiday season tradition for many families.
This year, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Explorers learned that the display was in danger of not happening due to the extreme amount of work involved and the fact that Mr. Klein has found it increasingly difficult to handle the setup as he has aged. Mr. Klein’s wife had always helped with the display until her death in 2012.
On Saturday, November 23rd beginning at 0800 hours, the Sheriff’s Office Explorers will be helping to set up the display under the direction of Mr. Klein. The Explorers are honored to be able to assist in helping to keep this well known Yuma tradition alive and available for everyone to enjoy. Mrs. Lisa Rice, one of the Explorer Advisors said, “We hated to hear that such a well liked Christmas tradition may not happen and jumped at the chance to offer our assistance. Mr. Klein graciously accepted our offer to help and will be there to guide us through the setup process.”The YCSO Explorers will be there until the setup is complete so Mr. Klein’s wish to continue the Christmas tradition can be realized. The lights are scheduled to be turned on Friday the 29th of November.
