Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatality Collision

Location of Incident: Highway 95 at approximately Avenue 3¼ E - Yuma, AZ


UPDATE:
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance identifying the deceased subject in this case.  The victim is described as a Hispanic male between 20-30 years of age, wearing a black FOX off-road t-shirt, blue jeans with black shoes.

The case remains under investigation, anyone that might have seen the accident or the deceased prior to the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (928) 783-4427.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: December 1, 2013
On 11-30-2013 at approximately 2313 hours, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a male subject walking in the roadway on Highway 95 near Avenue 3E.  While responding to the reported location, the Sheriff’s Office received at least two more calls advising of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the same location. 

Initial investigation at the scene revealed that a white 2012 Nissan Armada driven by Henry Ghiotto, 57 years old of Winterhaven, CA, was traveling eastbound on Highway 95 from Avenue 3E. The pedestrian was wearing dark colored clothing was struck while he was in the eastbound lane by the Nissan Armada. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Notification of next of kin is pending the identification of the deceased. The collision remains under investigation. Possible witnesses or anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact Deputy Hass at 928-783-4427.
