On December 30, 2013, at approximately 10:34 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3500 block of west Lorenza Street in reference to a residential fire. Upon arrival, deputies found a double wide manufactured home fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses on scene told deputies that they assisted a male occupant out of the home but they were unable to get the female occupant out due to the fire and heavy smoke.
Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded to the fire. With the assistance of Rural Metro Fire and the City of Yuma Fire Department, they were able to extinguish the fire. A short time later, Rural Metro Fire confirmed a female victim had been located inside the residence. The male was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for precautionary reasons.
Victim: Mrs. Rosalinda Ramirez, 68 year old female of Somerton, AZ.
The case remains under investigation.
