Assault per Domestic Violence

Location of Incident: 1100 block of S. Palm Avenue, Yuma, AZ

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the concerned citizen who assisted the victim of an Assault per Domestic Violence case that occurred in the 1100 block of S. Palm Avenue, Yuma, AZ on 03-09-13. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the citizen to contact them in reference to the incident.

The suspect (Gary Lynn SMITH, 23 years old of Yuma) is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. The Sheriff’s Office asks that if you have any information regarding this case or the location of the suspect to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (928) 783-4427.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

On 03-09-2013 at approximately 1100 hours, the suspect (later identified as Gary Lynn Smith, 23 years old of Yuma) assaulted the victim and forced the victim into his vehicle. The suspect was armed with a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim, kill other unspecified persons, and then kill himself. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and make contact with Sheriff Deputies. The suspect’s vehicle was later located by Deputies in the 100 block of S. 6th Avenue. A search of the area where the vehicle was located was conducted with the assistance of Yuma Police Department and Border Patrol.

The suspect was not located. The suspect is still at large and considered armed and dangerous. The suspect is described as:
Hispanic male
Light complexion
Height: 5’ 10”
Weight: 160
Eyes: GRN
Hair: BLK

The suspect was last seen wearing a red shirt and black baseball cap and is possibly in possession of a black semi auto handgun.
