Burglary Suspect Sought
Location of Incident: 10700 Block of E. 39th Street, Yuma, AZ
On 3/22/13 at 0143 hours, a Yuma County Deputy Sheriff observed a green 2005 Chevy Equinox stopped on the roadway in the 10700 Block of E. 39th Street with the parking lights activated. The Deputy stopped to check the welfare of the occupant and the person identified himself as Juan Meza. The Deputy became suspicious about the subjects activity due to his inability to explain his presence and activity in the area. Knowing that there had been recent burglary attempts in the area, a back-up Deputy responded and as he arrived, the subject fled on foot. A foot pursuit began, with the subject eventually eluding the Deputies.
Deputies observed several items of property inside the abandoned vehicle which are believed to be stolen property. The vehicle was seized pending the service of a search warrant to identify the contents and secure any evidence. Deputies also checked records and determined through previous mug shots that the subject was actually Jesus Meza, and not Juan Meza as he had initially identified himself. Jesus Meza has an active warrant for his arrest for false reporting. He has also been previously booked into the Yuma County Jail on multiple burglary and violation of probation charges.
Jesus Meza is described as a Hispanic male with short dark hair and a thin mustache and goatee. Meza is 22 years of age and is approximately 6’0 and 160 lbs. Meza is currently outstanding and is wanted by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office for questioning as well as the outstanding arrest warrant.
Anyone with any information concerning the location of Jesus Meza is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 783-4427
