Location of Incident: Highland and Ventura Road, Dateland, AZ
On 3/28/2013 at approximately 2100 hours, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an attempted abduction that had occurred earlier that afternoon, in the area of Highland and Ventura Road in Dateland, Arizona.
A 12 year old female student informed her mother that at approximately 1500 hours, when she got off the school bus and began walking toward her residence, the suspect asked her to get into his car. The female student did not comply and continued to her residence without incident. The suspect was described as a White male, estimated to be in his 50’s, with a bald head. The suspect was said to be in a tan sedan. The victim told Deputies that the suspect was not known to her, and believed to be a stranger to the area. There was no physical contact between the suspect and the victim.
Deputies checked the area and had negative contact with any persons or vehicles matching the suspect’s description. Area residents were contacted and none could confirm seeing the suspect or vehicle in the area.
The Sheriff’s Office will closely monitor the area and remain on the lookout for any persons or vehicles matching the description of the suspect. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that immediately reporting any such incident is of vital importance.
