Attempted Homicide

Location of Incident: 10427 S. Tornado Avenue, Yuma, AZ 85367

On 04/14/2013 at approximately 0036 hours, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a shooting in the 10400 block of S. Tornado Avenue. As deputies responded, additional 911 calls were received stating that a female subject had been shot in the leg.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the male suspect detained by a third party and a neighbor administering first aid to the female victim. The female victim was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for a gunshot wound.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had fired a .40 caliber pistol at the victim following a domestic dispute. Also in the house at the time of the shooting were three children, ages 5, 9, and 11. Witnesses described the weapon as a black pistol, which was recovered at the scene.

The suspect was identified as Jose Rodriguez. He is described as a Hispanic male, 30 years old, approximately 5’06” tall and 165 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He was booked into the Yuma County Jail on multiple charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and endangerment.
