Location of Incident: Mittry Lake, Yuma, AZ
Missing Person: Mr. Frank Wallace, a 66 year old black male from California
On May 9, 2013, at approximately 10:55 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Recovery Team, with the assistance of Customs and Border Protection, located the body of Mr. Frank Wallace. Next of Kin has been notified.
The cause of death will be determined by the Yuma County Medical Examiner. No foul play is suspected at this time.
On May 8, 2013 at approximately 1:22 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a missing person. The reporting parting stated that his friend had gone fishing to Mittry Lake the night of May 6th at approximately 9:00 p.m. and had not returned. The reporting party had located the missing persons’ vehicle at the main boat dock.
Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the scene and were unable to locate the subject on land. A Sheriff’s Office vessel was deployed and located the missing person’s fishing boat partially submerged along with his personal belongings east of the boat dock.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Recovery Team was requested to assist in the search along with Customs and Border Protection helicopter. The search continued until sundown with no signs of the missing person. The search will resume on May 9, 2013 at 7:00 a.m.
Families of the missing person have been notified.
