Location of Incident: 14200 Block of Avenue G – Somerton, AZ


UPDATE
Passenger - Manuel Molina-Fibres, 19 years old, San Luis, AZ.
Mr. Molina-Fibres is in a Phoenix burn center where he is listed in critical condition.

ORIGINAL RELEASE
On Friday, June 21, 2013, at 2229 hrs, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle injury collision in the 14200 block of Avenue G.

The vehicle involved was a black Nissan 350Z that was traveling southbound on Avenue G. The initial investigation revealed the Nissan lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with an APS guide wire and APS steel pole. The Nissan came to rest along the east shoulder of Avenue G engulfing into flames.

The Nissan was being operated by Mr. Francisco Garica Jr., a 20 year old male from Yuma, Arizona. He was pronounced deceased on scene by Somerton/Cocopah Ambulance.

The front seat passenger in the Nissan is a 19 year old male from San Luis, AZ who was flown to Maricopa Medical Center via Care Flight for life threatening injuries. His name is being withheld until notification is made with next of kin. The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.
