Yuma County Annual Law Enforcement Multi Agency Explorer Academy

Location of Incident: Yuma County, AZ

One of the missions of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is the education of youth about responsible conduct as well as career opportunities in law enforcement. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Yuma County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy again this year. The Explorer Academy is held each summer and is put together as a collaborative effort between advisors from each participating law enforcement agency.

This year, a total of thirty (30) Explorers will be participating in the academy representing the Yuma County Sheriff's Office, City of Yuma Police Department, City of Somerton Police Department, City of San Luis Police Department, and United States Border Patrol Yuma and Wellton Stations.

The seven day Academy exposes Explorers to the challenging aspects of a career in law enforcement and is modeled after traditional law enforcement training academies. This Academy will provide a high quality learning experience where Explorers will receive instruction from highly trained Law Enforcement Officers in basic procedures specific to a career in Law Enforcement.

The Yuma County Law Enforcement Explorer Academy will be held at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ. The Academy will commence on Sunday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. and will end with a formal graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 20th at 1:00 p.m.

The graduation ceremony will be held at the San Luis Cultural Center located at 1015 N. Main Street San Luis, AZ 85349.
