On Thursday, February 20, 2014, at approximately 4:22 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Chevron located at 2003 W. 8th Street. Upon arrival, deputies spoke to the clerk who advised them that a male subject had walked into the store demanding money. The suspect threatened to harm the clerk and also said that he had two other friends outside that would cause him physical harm. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left the area on foot.
Deputies were able to view the video footage and an attempt to locate was put out to surrounding agencies. A short time later, deputies observed the suspect at the Circle K located at 3640 W. 8th Street. The suspect was taken into custody without incident; a second suspect and vehicle were located in the area by deputies. The suspects are also investigative leads for several crimes that the Yuma Police Department is currently investigating.
Suspect 1: Dennis Jasper Valenzuela, 22 year old, from Yuma was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center for armed robbery, aggravated robbery and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.
Suspect 2: Joshua Edward Amador, 25 year old, from Yuma was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center for armed robbery, aggravated robbery and an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.
Suspect 3: Unknown
