Two Vehicle Fatal Collision

 

Location of Incident: Highway 95 & Mile Marker 15 - Somerton, AZ


On May 6, 2014 at approximately10:24 p.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 95 at mile marker 15. The investigation at the scene revealed that a 2002 white Mazda sedan was westbound on Highway 95 traveling in the eastbound lane. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ms. Marlee Cahoe, 21 years of age, from Yuma, Arizona. There were no passengers in the vehicle. Ms. Cahoe was pronounced deceased on the scene, resulting from injuries sustained during the collision. Next of Kin notification has been made.

The second vehicle, a 2007 unmarked U.S. Border Patrol brown Dodge Journey, was traveling eastbound on Highway 95, and the vehicle swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision with the Mazda. The occupants of the Dodge Journey were two male United States Border Patrol agents on duty. Both occupants of the Dodge Journey were transported by Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department to Yuma Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Alcohol may be a contributing factor in the collision.
