BATFE Forms Processing
As the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Yuma County, the Sheriff of Yuma County is responsible for accepting and processing Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) ATF F 5320.1 (Form 1)--Application to Make and Register a Firearm and ATF F 5320.4 (Form 4)--Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of a Firearm.
In order to process the ATF F 5320.1 (Form 1) and ATF F 5320.4 (Form 4), you must complete, sign and submit a Weapons Records Check form to the Sheriff’s Office when you submit the BATFE forms for signature. This Weapons Record Check form authorizes the Sheriff’s Office to conduct a local records check as well as a nationwide NCIS and ACJIS records check.
All paperwork must be submitted in person to the Sheriff’s Office along with picture identification which will allow our agency to begin the process.
Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. excluding holidays.
NOTE: In order to fill-in and print the forms, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.0 or greater installed on your hard drive. It is available free of charge and can be downloaded and installed by clicking on the Acrobat icon below.
