Civil Process Service

The Civil Department is charged with serving legal documents originating from the Superior Courts, Justice Courts, attorneys and private individuals. The Civil Department also assists citizens and attorneys in both prejudgment and post-judgment remedies by executing on writs of execution, writs of restitution, writs of replevin, writs of garnishment, writs of attachment, etc.
NOTE: Enforcement/Service of Writs will only be accepted at the YCSO Main Office. For questions or more information, please call (928) 783-6274.

Due to the nature of the court proceedings and procedures, deputies will only serve processes Monday–Friday during hours that are authorized by state statutes (excluding holidays). All processes will be served in accordance with Arizona Statutes and Arizona Rules of Civil procedures unless otherwise directed in writing by the court order (please allow 2-3 weeks for service).

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office Civil Department is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, excluding holidays. Legal documents sent by mail for service should be addressed as follows:

The fees charged for service by the Sheriff are set by Arizona Revised Statutes 11-445.

Injunction Against Harassment: In accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes 12-809,

  • The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office will serve an injunction against harassment issued by a Superior Court judge or commissioner. The YCSO will also serve out of state issued injunctions against harassment.
  • An injunction against harassment issued by a Justice Court (JP1, JP2, and JP3) shall be served by the constable for that jurisdiction.
  • An injunction against harassment issued by a municipal court may be served by the city police department or a process server if the city police department is unable to serve the injunction.

Additional Information

  • Additional mileage will be added if more than one attempt is required to execute a service.
  • Fees will also vary if more than one person is being served.
 

Types of Payment Accepted

If your fees for service by the Sheriff have been waived or deferred by the court, we require a copy of the waiver or deferral along with the documents you need served.

Below are the various types of payments that are accepted at the YCSO Main Office and the Foothills Substation:

  • YCSO Main Office: Cash (in person only), personal check, money order, cashier’s check, and credit/debit.
    NOTE: Credit/debit card (Visa/MasterCard only) payments are accepted; however, there is a convenience fee which varies depending on the amount charged and credit/debit card used. We do not accept American Express.

  • Foothills Substation: Cash, personal check, money order, and cashier’s check.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
