The Grievance Procedure is available to all inmates in the custody of the Yuma County Detention Center who feel that they have been subjected to abuse or harassment, denied privileges or deprived of their civil rights. If an inmate wishes to file a grievance, an Officer will provide the inmate a Grievance Form or the inmate may submit it electronically. After the Grievance Form has been completed by the inmate or submitted electronically, it is forwarded to the Investigations Section. Upon receipt of a grievance, an investigator will review/investigate the matter contained within the grievance.
Due Process procedures allow inmates the opportunity to dispute disciplinary sanctions that result in the loss of privileges. All inmates are afforded the right to:
Inmates may submit a written request for a disciplinary review hearing. They may also submit a written rebuttal to the Detention Officer’s statement of facts about the incident that resulted in the discipline of the inmate. After the Detention Officer’s statement and the inmate’s rebuttal are presented to the Shift Supervisor, the Shift Supervisor will issue a decision as to whether or not the disciplinary sanctions were appropriate.
