Volunteer Program
In order to provide many of the programs listed above, the Program’s Department maintains and supervises a Volunteer Program. This program has many local volunteers that provide one-on-one religious video visits, and substance abuse assistance and counseling. All volunteers are screened and have a complete background check prior to being authorized to work with the inmate population. The Program’s Department relies heavily on the volunteers, as well as the donation of religious and reading materials, in order to provide all the services that are rendered to the inmates.
Jail Tours
In an effort to educate the local community about the Yuma County Detention Center, the Detention Center staff conducts tours of the Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center. The tours are available to the general public and can be arranged by contacting the Program’s Department.
